Frances Haugen is data scientist who became known as the Facebook Whistleblower, after she disclosed tens of thousands of Facebook’s internal documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission and The Wall Street Journal in 2021.

Primarily, the reports revealed that the company was fully aware of negative impacts on teenage users of Instagram, and the contribution of Facebook activity to violence in developing countries.

Frances now works as a leading advocate for accountability & transparency in social media, and is the founder of Beyond The Screen, a non-profit driving systems-level change for social platforms.
