OUR PARTICIPANTS
KRISTIN BRIDE
“I’m doing this work so that no other parent has to suffer losing a child the way I did.”
In 2020 Kristin lost her son Carson. He took his life after he had been viciously cyber-bullied through anonymous apps on Snapchat. Carson was 16. In the wake of unimaginable loss, Kristin transformed her grief into action.
In 2021, she co-founded the Online Harms Prevention Workgroup. She also filed a national class action lawsuit against anonymous apps Yolo and LMK, forcing Snapchat to immediately remove these apps from its platform.
In 2023, Kristin testified before Congress about the harmful designs used by tech platforms to addict our children.
Together with Amy Neville, Kristin created the annual Social Media Victims Remembrance Day on June 23rd, to honor young people who have lost their lives or suffered severe harm due to social media.
Kristin is a founding member of the parents advocacy group Parents Rise. She also founded her own nonprofit, the Carson J Bride Effect. Kristin continues to be a leading voice for social media reform.
TRISHA PRABHU
“What if we could stop cyberbullying at the source, and help the bully make better choices?”
Trisha Prabhu is a 25-year-old Indian-American innovator, global advocate, and anti-hate activist. Trisha's journey began in the 8th grade: at just 13, she invented ReThink, a technology that aims to proactively stop cyberbullying.
Since then, Trisha's message to "ReThink hate" has been shared with digital citizens around the world. ReThink has been featured at Google, The White House Science Fair, on the TED stage, and more.
Today, Trisha also leads ReThink's non-profit spinout, ReThink Citizens, which is working to support a new generation of young digital changemakers in creating the digital world they deserve.
ReThink Citizens has been funded by Young Futures, which is supported by Melinda French Gates' Pivotal Ventures, and the Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund, which is supported by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Foundation.
Trisha is a J.D. candidate at Yale Law School.
THE OFFLINE CLUB
“Our phones are taking too much of our valuable time, and we are not really connecting with people anymore.”
The Offline Club was founded in Amsterdam early 2024 by Jordy van Bennekom, Valentijn Klok and Ilya Kneppelhout.
Through special events and hangouts, they offer a space where people can disconnect from their digital devices and reconnect with themselves and each other.
Local phone free hangouts quickly turned into a global movement, as The Offline Club went viral – ironically over Instagram! Since then, they have built a global community and hosted Offline Hangouts in cities across continental Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Australia.
Along with their signature Offline Hangouts, The Offline Club holds Offline Getaways, for an opportunity to experience extended digital detox retreats in nature with a community of like-minded people.
You can find out more about local Offline Clubs and upcoming events through their website.
